St. Louis Art Museum in Forest Park
This summer my family and I took a trip to the St.Louis Art Museum in Forest Park. They had just finished a renovation of the museum that added a new wing. I highly recommend visiting the museum if you are in area. It is a phenomenal collection of art. Even the building is a wonder. It was one of the few buildings left standing from the World's Fair in 1904. Not only is the museum kid friendly, but also free! I hope you get a chance to see it. (The picture is my son standing in front of a Henri Matisse)
Clay Time!
It is time to get our hands dirty and make some great ceramic sculptures. This is always one of the favorite art projects for all the kiddos. Here is the run-down of what each grade is making out of clay! Kindergarten- Clay Bunnies First Grade- Clay Fish Second- Clay Dogs Third Grade- Animal shakers Fourth Grade- Ceramic bird houses
I am so excitied!!!
Joseph Cornell Boxes
Fourth grade students will be creating decorative boxes in the style of artist Joseph Cornell. He was an American artists who used his collection of interesting items to create small displays that tell a story. I am asking for the lids of shoe boxes, and various junk (old craft supplies, buttons, old nuts and bolts) to help us create. Thank you so much for your donations!
It's that time of year again! Where you have a ton of energy, but you are stuck indoors because of the cold. Wouldn't it be fun to do something besides veg out in front of the t.v. and playing video games? Here is a website that has tons of ideas for art projects that you can do at home. Have fun, and bring in what you make to share in class!
Here is what your kiddos will be working on when we get back next Monday.
