Our goal this year is to learn how to access our level of fitness and take the necessary steps to become brighter shining stars throughout the school year and the rest of our life. So far we have touched on cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility. Each quarter students in grades 2nd through 4th complete a series of fitness testing to evaluate if each area of fitness is improving and if their personal goals are being met.
In Kindergarten and 1st grade we talk about the important job our heart and lungs have to get oxygen (energy) to the rest of our body and the importance of our muscles' strength and flexibility to support our bones and helps us play. They are learning the basics of how to find their heart beat and see if it is fast or slow. They are also learning the basics of how to do a correct push-up and sit-up. I must say I am very impressed about how well they are doing these!
